Why do we give?

Giving is powerful!

Giving releases something in you and releases something for someone. It's been said before, you can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. Jesus told us that the "greatest command" was to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and all your mind." This is the essence of worship. It is with all of our lives.

At Church Alive we believe honoring God with our finances is such an important part of the Christian life because it reveals the heart, and it leads the heart. Jesus taught us to "seek first" the Kingdom of God. This means in every area of our life we put Him first and we know that God blesses the rest of our lives.

"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine." – Proverbs 3:9-10


How do we live this out?

We teach people to Honor God with the first portion: The tithe or 10% (Matthew 6:33, Proverbs 3:9-10, Genesis 4:1-6)

We teach people to save the next 10% so we are wise managers. (Proverbs 12:27, Proverbs 6:6-8)

We teach people to live and enjoy the rest.

We teach people to become Spirit led givers. This simply means over and above the tithe, giving becomes a prayerful and joyful journey as God leads you to grow in generosity.

ANNUAL REPORT

COMMITMENT SUNDAY

  • Every year, we have Commitment Sunday at Church Alive. Commitment Sunday is when we come together as a church family to make our financial commitments for 2024 above our regular tithes towards the Believe and Build Foundation. 

  • On Commitment Sunday you will share with us what amount you are going to be giving towards the Believe and Build Foundation. We will have a moment during worship for you to do this.

  • Sunday, March 24th, 2024. 

  • Preparing for Commitment Sunday is both practical and spiritual. First, pray and ask God what part He would have you play. If you are married, be sure to pray about it as a family. Practically, any time God calls us to stretch, especially financially, there is a practical element of looking at your monthly budget to assess where your commitment will fit and what that will mean for other areas. 

  • You can give your commitment however God leads you: in one lump sum or in increments throughout the year. You can give by going to https://churchalivenj.churchcenter.com/giving and selecting “Believe and Build Foundation” as the fund.

  • We will send you an email after Commitment Sunday letting you know what you committed. On the Church Center app, you can follow these steps:

    • Log in

    • Click your picture on the top right corner

    • Scroll down and click “My Giving”

    • Click “Pledges”
